Notice I suggest WHAT, not WHY. WHY is a bigger question than WHAT and often causes people to overthink and get defensive.
My natural inclination is to focus on the things I didn’t finish. This creates an internal narrative that I am doing something wrong or that I am lazy.
These characteristics were inherit before the Industrial Revolution, and it seems that we lost part of them when we started to “go to work.”
Hope is an indispensable quality for leaders. You cannot instill it in others until you instill hope in yourself, and our world desperately needs hope.
The list is much longer, and most of the tasks are pretty routine and not exciting, so I can get grouchy just looking at it.
I’ll never know for sure, but I’m guessing if I had realized that at twenty-one, I would not have been punched in the head.
And while I am far from healthy, two thoughts about anxiety have been helping me a lot in the last year.
As I was walking my dog, it struck me how PRESENT she is on our walks. She is taking in the sights, the sounds, and, most importantly, the smells.. She is fully alive and in the moment and rarely checks her cell phone.
